PSS

Another day of internet surfing and I stumbled across a new website...
She lives in H-town and has some fun stuff to look through on her blog.
I love this outfit:

If only it weren't 90+ degrees outside, I would totally wear this to dinner tonight.
I guess I'll save it for the first cool day (when it's under 90 degrees)

Put a cork in it...take 2!

I was feeling crafty one day (I was really bored) and decided to tackle a new project.
One of my favorite blogs Young House Love had a post on this.
My friend Mary and I both got our creative juices flowing and came up with:

Mary's creation

My creations (I used one as a gift).
All this creative work didn't occur without injury though.  I burned my arm on the iron (ouch!).
Oh well...all in the name of fashion crafting.
I might stick to shopping though!

love

If you know me, you know that I love coral! You can find it (and other ocean inspired items) all over my house.  I want that coral lamp. now!

I loved this pic because of the deer horns.
I have some that belonged to my grandpa and have been trying to find the perfect spot to hang them in the new house.
I'll post a pic when I do!

Mad Men

Jake and I spent ALL summer catching up on the entire Mad Men season.
I mean, who doesn't love the Don/Betty/advertising/drinking/smoking drama?
(I admit, I did get tired of all the womanizing ways).

I just found this fun feature: MadMenYourself
Summer
Jake

Looks just like us, right??
Can't wait for Sunday night!

wishful thinking

Sadly, it is still a 100 degrees here (at least it feels that way) and I am left dreaming of cooler weather.
Jake loves the fall because Texas A&M football returns, but I love it because I get to wear this:

and these:

Gap
Okay, well it might be more like winter in Texas before I get to wear any of that, but...you get the idea!

I also can't wait to hang this wreath on my door:

or maybe this one

ItzFitz

perhaps I should blast the a.c. the rest of the day to really get into the spirit!

repeat

I keep running across this on TV and without a doubt I stop and watch every time.  I don't know what it is about Mr. Darcy, but I love this movie!
Jake should be glad he's not home to watch it again!

marshmallow

I must have a thing for cupcakes, because here I go again...

I read this in my Real Simple magazine and loved it!

When your cupcakes have about three minutes left to bake, pull out the tin and place one marshmallow on top of each cupcake. Return the tin to the oven for the remaining time (or until the marshmallows are slightly melted but still fluffy).

This does not exactly fit into my diet, but maybe I'll just try one...!

sisterly love

My favorite thing to do on the internet: read blogs
My favorite blog: my sister's, of course!
Whitney inspired me to start my own, so go check out her blog

Omar, my mom, and Whit in NYC

Favorite fun fact: our cheeky poodles are brothers!

Gypsy

sisters & brothers

Gypsy is a street-smart city dog.  He owns the streets of San Francisco!

wish list

I'm starting my Christmas list a little early this year:

Of course, I love everything at Kate Spade!

I'll have seconds please!

I love a good macaroni & cheese, don't you?
I'm also a fan of cupcakes (any flavor, any size!)
Who knew you could combine the two?
Some genius came up with macaroni cupcakes!

Macaroni and Cheese Cupcakes
8 ounces elbow macaroni
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, plus a little more for garnish
2 eggs
1 cup milkSalt and pepper
1. Preheat oven to 400. Line a 12 cup muffin tin with paper or foil liners.
2. Cook the macaroni until done. Drain and immediately return to pot.
3. Add cheese and stir briefly until almost melting.
4. Beat eggs into milk, and then pour mixture into macaroni. Mix well.
5. Ladle macaroni mixture into muffins tins, and bake for 20 minutes. Cool slightly before serving.

Check out Framed for some more fun recipes! (she also has lasagna cupcakes!)

weekend recap

I started the weekend off babysitting these crazy kids:

Carson and Wesley

Carson and the poodle

Then we went with some friends to check out this band

With an Orange

(who just happen to be good friends with my bro-in-law!)

The rest of the weekend was pretty relaxed (and super hot).  Here's some pics of Oliver enjoying his weekend...

it's a celebration...

We had wonderful news yesterday--Jake passed his final CFA (chartered financial analyst) exam!  He has been studying and taking CFA exams part 1, 2, and 3 for the past three years.  We are, needless to say, very excited that it's over!  I'm so proud of him (and glad he won't spend every night studying!).
We celebrated last night with this:

I'm sure we will continue celebrating for awhile!

Cheers to Jake!
